SPEAKER BIO

Dr. Katie van den Heuvel, PT, PAM-MC, earned her BA in Dance Education from Old Dominion University in 2003. She has taught ballet, modern, creative dance and tap in private studios and public schools. Katie performed with the National Ballet Company of Maryland, Gravity Optional Dance Company, Old Dominion University Dance Theater, the ODU Ballet, the Tidewater Dance Collective and Kindred Spirits belly dance, as well as performing and competing with Irish Dance.

 

Katie attended the University of Maryland Baltimore School of Medicine, and has been practicing pediatric and adult orthopedic physical therapy since 2014. She earned her Masters Certificate in Performing Arts Medicine from Shenandoah University in 2019, and holds certifications in Selective Functional Movement Assessment and Vestibular Assessment and Management, including concussion treatment. Katie has always had a particular interest in working with dancers and other performing artists.
